I have told you repeatedly to use the miswak.

The Prophet of Allah ﷺ would clean his teeth with the miswak, then he would give me the miswak in order to wash it. So I would first use it myself, then wash it and return it. I asked 'Aishah, saying: "What did the Prophet ﷺ use to start with upon entering his house?" She said: "With the miswak (tooth-stick)".

The Prophet of Allah ﷺ would clean his teeth with the miswak, then he would give me the miswak in order to wash it. So I would first use it myself, then wash it and return it.

Whenever the Prophet ﷺ got up at night, he used to clean his mouth with miswak.

Whenever the Prophet ﷺ got up for tahajjud prayer he used to clean his mouth (and teeth) with miswak.

I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was cleansing his mouth with a ripe tooth-stick (miswak). The edge of the tooth-stick was on his tongue and he was making a sound like: “Ugh, ugh” as if he was heaving, and the tooth-stick was in his mouth.

Ten practices are part of the fitrah: trimming the mustache, letting the beard grow, using the miswak (tooth-stick), rinsing the nose, trimming the nails, washing the finger joints, plucking the armpit hairs, shaving the pubic hair, and washing the private parts with water (after answering the call of nature).

We used to prepare for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ his miswak (tooth-stick) and the water he used for making ablution. Then, Allah would awaken him whenever He willed during the night, and he would brush his teeth with the tooth-stick, make ablution, and perform prayer.

Taking a bath on Friday is obligatory for every pubescent male muslim, and cleaning the teeth with the tooth-stick and applying perfume if available.

Abdur-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr visited the Prophet ﷺ as I had the Prophet's head reclined on my chest. ‘Abdur-Rahman had a fresh tooth-stick (miswak) and was brushing his teeth with. The Messenger kept his eye on it, so I took the tooth-stick, gnawed it, freshened it, and then gave it to the Prophet ﷺ . He brushed his teeth with it and I had never seen the Messenger brushing his teeth more beautifully. After finishing brushing his teeth, he lifted his hand, or his finger, and said three times: "To the Highest Companion." Then, he passed away." A'isha would say: "He died while his head was resting between my chest and chin."
